Ingredients

Scale

Beef Marinade

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Stir-Fry

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup snow peas
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions

  1. Marinating the Beef: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, minced ginger, minced garlic, honey, cornstarch, salt, and pepper to create the marinade. Place the thinly sliced flank steak into a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish, pour the marinade over it ensuring all slices are coated, seal or cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to infuse.
  2. Stir-Frying the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until no longer pink. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
  3. Cooking the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add sliced red and yellow bell peppers along with snow peas. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften but remain crisp.
  4. Combining Ingredients: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables, mix thoroughly to combine flavors.
  5. Finishing Touches: Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the beef and vegetable mixture, stir for an additional minute to incorporate the garnish and warm through.
  6. Serving: Serve the Sesame-Ginger Beef hot over a bed of cooked rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For best results, slice the flank steak thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness.
  • Marinate the beef for at least 30 minutes, but up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.
  • You can substitute flank steak with sirloin or skirt steak if preferred.
  • Adjust the vegetables based on seasonality or personal preference; broccoli or snap peas work well.
  • Serve immediately for optimal texture and flavor.
