Ingredients

Scale

Chips

  • 1 Package Wonton Wrappers (halved diagonally into triangles)
  • Vegetable or Canola Oil (for frying)

Toppings

  • 1 pound Ground Italian Pork Sausage
  • 1 package Pepperoni slices (about 3040 slices)
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Shredded Pepper Jack Cheese
  • Pepperoncini or Banana Peppers (to taste)

Dipping Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Marinara Sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook the Sausage: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 pound of ground Italian pork sausage. Cook for about 8 minutes until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it apart as it cooks. Once done, remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Prepare Wonton Chips: Cut wonton wrappers diagonally in half to form triangles. In another pan, heat vegetable or canola oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking. Working in batches to avoid overcrowding, carefully fry the wonton triangles for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove them with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  3. Assemble Nachos: On a baking sheet, spread a layer of crispy wonton chips. Sprinkle with shredded pepper jack cheese, evenly scatter the cooked Italian sausage crumbles, add pepperoni slices and pepperoncini or banana peppers to your preference, then top everything with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  4. Bake the Nachos: Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven at 375℉ (190℃) for 5 minutes or until the cheeses melt and become bubbly.
  5. Serve with Marinara: Remove from oven and serve immediately, accompanied by 1/2 cup marinara sauce for dipping, enhancing the flavor with a zesty tomato complement.

Notes

  • Wonton chips can be seasoned lightly with salt or your favorite spices after frying for extra flavor.
  • Use turkey sausage for a leaner alternative, though this will slightly change the flavor profile.
  • Adjust the amount of pepperoncini or banana peppers depending on your heat preference.
  • For a crispier chip, make sure the oil is hot before frying to avoid greasy chips.
  • Leftover chips can be stored in an airtight container but are best eaten fresh.
