4.7 from 97 reviews

These Greek Yogurt Brownies are a healthier twist on traditional brownies, offering a moist and rich chocolate flavor with the added benefits of protein and probiotics from Greek yogurt. Made with simple ingredients like almond or oat flour and sweetened naturally with maple syrup, they are perfect for a guilt-free dessert or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Wet Ingredients

  • ¾ cup plain Greek yogurt (2% or full fat)
  • 2 large eggs (or flax eggs for vegan version)
  • ⅓ cup maple syrup (or sweetener of choice)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup almond flour or oat flour
  • ¼ tsp salt

Optional Add-ins

  • ¼ cup dark chocolate chips
  • Chopped nuts or other toppings

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal of the brownies.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, eggs (or flax eggs), maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the unsweetened cocoa powder, almond or oat flour, and salt thoroughly to evenly distribute the ingredients.
  4. Fold Ingredients Together: Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, taking care not to overmix. If using, add dark chocolate chips, nuts, or other toppings at this stage and fold them in.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter.
  6. Cool and Chill: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan. Then refrigerate them for at least 1 hour before slicing into squares. This step helps the brownies set and enhances their texture.

Notes

  • Use Dutch-processed cocoa powder for a darker color and richer chocolate flavor.
  • To make these brownies vegan, substitute plant-based yogurt and use flax eggs (1 tablespoon flaxseed meal + 3 tablespoons water per egg).
  • Add a scoop of protein powder to the batter to boost protein content, especially good for a post-workout snack. Adjust liquids accordingly to maintain batter consistency.
