Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Seasonings

  • 1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Butter Parmesan Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (or olive oil for a healthier option)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (divided)

Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure a hot environment for evenly roasting the shrimp, creating a slightly crispy exterior.
  2. Prepare the Shrimp: In a mixing bowl, combine peeled and deveined shrimp with minced garlic, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Toss thoroughly to coat the shrimp with these aromatic flavors.
  3. Melt the Butter: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in half of the grated Parmesan cheese to create a rich, flavorful sauce to coat the shrimp.
  4. Combine and Arrange: Pour the garlic Parmesan butter mixture over the shrimp and toss evenly to coat all pieces. Spread the shrimp in a single layer on a parchment paper–lined baking sheet for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  5. Roast the Shrimp: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast the shrimp for 8-10 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque. Avoid overcooking to prevent toughness; shrimp should be just cooked through and slightly curled.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove the shrimp from the oven and immediately sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley. Serve hot, optionally accompanied by crusty bread, pasta, rice, or as an appetizer.

Notes

  • Serve the roasted shrimp over pasta, rice, or alongside a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
  • Pair with crusty bread to soak up the flavorful garlic Parmesan butter sauce.
  • To make it dairy-free, substitute nutritional yeast for Parmesan cheese and olive oil for butter.
  • To maintain shrimp freshness, refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze cooked shrimp for up to 3 months.
  • Do not overcook shrimp as they tend to turn rubbery; watch them closely during roasting.
  • Always preheat the oven fully to 400°F (200°C) for best roasting results and visual appeal.
  • Using parchment paper for the baking sheet makes cleanup easier and helps prevent shrimp from sticking.
