Ingredients
Scale
Cheese
8 ounces parmesan cheese, freshly grated
Vegetables
3 medium yellow onions, sliced very thin (about 1/6 inch)
Oils & Spices
2 tablespoons avocado oil
2 teaspoons paprika, or to taste
1 teaspoon coarse sea salt, or to taste
1 teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large rimmed baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
Prepare Cheese Base: Grate 8 ounces of fresh parmesan cheese and spread it in a thin, even layer over the parchment paper on the baking pan.
Slice Onions: Slice the yellow onions very thinly—about 1/6 inch thickness. Using a mandoline slicer is recommended for uniform slices. Lay the onion slices evenly in a single layer over the parmesan cheese.
Oil and Season: Brush the onion slices with 2 tablespoons of avocado oil to coat them lightly. Then sprinkle a mixture of 2 teaspoons paprika, 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt, and 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper evenly over the top.
Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the onion rings are golden brown and crispy.
Cool and Serve: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the onion ring chips to cool on the pan for about 10 minutes. Once cooled, break them into pieces and enjoy your crispy, flavorful snack.
