Instructions

  1. Heat Oil: Heat the vegetable or canola oil over medium heat in a pan for pan frying, or heat the oil to about 375° F if deep frying. Test readiness by sprinkling a pinch of flour into the oil—if it sizzles immediately, the oil is ready.
  2. Prepare Flour Mixture: In a large bowl or zip-top bag, combine the flour and seasoned salt thoroughly.
  3. Thin Breading Option: Pour the mushrooms directly into the flour and salt mixture, stirring or shaking to coat evenly.
  4. Thick Breading Option: First, dip mushrooms into beaten eggs, then dredge them in the flour and seasoned salt mixture until fully coated.
  5. Fry Mushrooms: Carefully place the coated mushrooms into the hot oil. Fry them for 2-3 minutes, flipping if necessary, until they turn a golden brown color.
  6. Drain Excess Oil: Remove the fried mushrooms from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to soak up excess oil.
  7. Serve: Serve the fried mushrooms warm as a tasty snack or side dish.

  • For a thinner, lighter breading, omit the eggs and coat mushrooms only in the seasoned flour mixture.
